H-M-S girls go 1-1 in first golf meets

With three golfers finishing among the Top 4, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn won its opening War Eagle Conference girls' golf meet of the 2023 season.

Gracie Knobloch (43), Elise Haack (47) and Kinsey Schirmer (57) finished Nos. 1, 2 and 4 among the medalists for the meet with Remsen St. Mary's. Abby Kunzman shot a 71 for H-M-S, which claimed the 218-231 win on April 11 at Sanborn.

Bella Arens was St. Mary's lone medalist, shooting a 54.

Playing in windy conditions at Primghar on April 13, the Hawks suffered a 218-233 loss to South O'Brien.

Knobloch finished in a tie with the Wolverines' Whitney Einck at the end of regulation with a low round of 47. Haack was the No. 4 golfer for the meet, finishing with a 55.

Other scores for H-M-S were Schirmer 56, Morgan Grooters 75 and Kunzman 79.

South O'Brien was led by Einck with a 47 and Sam Wilbur with a 48. Wilbur was the No. 3 golfer.

H-M-S (1-1) will host Hinton on April 24.
