Amelia Sirola wins 1 match, loses 2 at state meet

Okoboji/HMS wrestler Amelia Sirola got off to a good start at the girls' state wrestling tournament but was unable to continue the momentum into the next rounds. The Okoboji athlete competed on Feb. 1 at Xtream Arena in Coralville.

Wrestling in the opening round of the 235 pound bracket, Sirola won by fall over Emma Cook of Colfax-Mingo (3:06). She then lost her second-round match by fall to Bricsia Garcia-Vasquez of West Liberty (0:49).

Moving to the consolation round, Sirola lost by fall to Emma Daniels of Carroll (3:18), ending her state tournament run.

Sirola gave Okoboji/HMS four team points with her performance. She finishes her junior season with a record of 14-15.
