• Pride Group resident charged with assault

A resident of the Pride Group at Primghar has been accused of assaulting a resident of the facility. Cole Schnider, 34, was arrested on March 25 after allegedly striking the victim in the head with a folding chair, causing two lacerations. The victim was transported to MercyOne Medical Center in Primghar for medical treatment.

The complaint states that Pride Group staff witnessed the incident, and that Schnider did not appear to intend to inflict serious injury.

Schnider was charged with Assault Causing Serious Injury, a class D felony. He was released the day after his arrest. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.

• Domestic disturbance in Fostoria

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a reported domestic disturbance at 422 1st Avenue SW in Fostoria, at 1 a.m. on March 19. While meeting with two occupants of the residence, marijuana plants were discovered inside.

Amber Wells, 37, and Lucas Richardson, 41, both of Fostoria, were taken into custody. As Wells was booked into jail, a substance that is alleged to be methamphetamine was found hidden in her shirt. The sheriff’s office then obtained and executed a search warrant of the residence where additional marijuana, a substance believed to be methamphetamine, firearms and drug paraphernalia were reported to be found.

Both subjects were charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Failure to Affix a Drug Stamp and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Wells was also charged with Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution.

• Strikes deer in roadway

A 2013 Dodge driven by Stacy Dierkson, 51, of Emmetsburg, struck a deer as it wandered onto a county road on March 30.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that Dierkson sustained minor injuries but did not seek medical attention. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,500.
