Double trouble for H-M-S basketball teams

Remsen St. Mary's sweeps hoop doubleheader

Remsen St. Mary's was not in a giving mood during their visit to Hartley on Dec. 18, as they swept Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in a War Eagle Conference basketball doubleheader.

In the girls' game, turnovers hampered a good night offensively for H-M-S during a 75-53 loss. The maroon Hawks turned the ball over 36 times, 26 of which were the result of steals by St. Mary's.

H-M-S overcame a nine-point deficit to pull to within 22-20 early in the second quarter but St. Mary's scored 14 straight points and would eventually hold a 41-28 half time lead.
