Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Madison Otto earned her third medal of year by placing in the Top 20 at the West Lyon Invitational, on Sept. 14 at Lake Pahoja State Recreation Area near Inwood.

Otto ran 24:33 to place 17th in a tough field. The course is also tough, covering grass, cement, tall grass, and even sand.

“This is always a tough race,” said Hawk coach Nicole Dorhout. “It’s not our typical golf course-type event, but it is fun to try something new and get a great challenge.”

Also in girls’ varsity, Lexi Croatt finished 29th, Jaela Anliker was 42nd, and Juliana Pasillas finished in 43rd. In JV, Hailey Grotluschen finished 36th.

In boys’ JV, Bryce Dodge finished 34th, Mitchell Meyers was 46th, George Vargas was 48th, Connor Pasillas finished in 53rd, and Gavin Faulkner was 55th.
