    An ongoing effort to change the way members are elected to the Clay Central/Everly school board hit another snag recently. Board members on March 30 rescinded a resolution that changed the residential location requirements of district directors. According Board Secretary Diane White, CC/E "jumped the gun" in passing the changes in February. "We could not adopt the plan now," White said.     A massive commercial egg-laying facility near Harris is sitting vacant for the second time in seven years thanks to an outbreak of bird flu. According to Chloe Carson, communications director at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, 5 million birds were affected. All were destroyed, as per state and federal guidelines.     The Hartley Rec Trail Committee recently landed a big donation to help jumpstart fundraising efforts. Duane Kolpin and Connie Olhausen presented a check for $1,359 on behalf of the Hartley Community Foundation. Other recent donations have come from the Lions Club ($500) abnd Y'Adnom Club ($100). The trail committee is in the early stages of fundraising and planning the recreation trail, which would span approximately four miles around Hartley when finished.     Staff and students at H-M-S Elementary had fun during Dress Like a Gym Teacher Day on March 30. Participants dressed like a gym teacher in order to help create awareness for heart health. The elementary does this every year in conjunction with older students doing Jump Rope for Heart. The staff also donated $200 to the American Heart Association as part of the campaign.
