City supports grant application for trail project

Hartley trail committee seeks $91,200 for section west of Neebel Park

If built, the The 14-foot wide trail would encompass Hartley starting at Neebel Park for total distance of approximately four miles.

The Hartley City Council is supporting an application for funding to finance the first section of a recreational trail in the community.

The Hartley Recreational Trail Committee, on behalf of the Hartley Improvement Foundation, is applying for $91,200 in funding from the Iowa Department of Transportation's State Recreational Trails program. The grant is intended to finance construction of a segment of trail on the south side of 3rd Street Southwest, extending from Neebel Park to 8th Avenue West.
