• Leaves scene of an accident

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a hit and run accident that occurred at 1:30 p.m. on May 16, at the intersection of 240th Avenue and 390th Street.

The report stated that a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Regina Kohrs, 62, of Dickens, was struck by a 2009 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jenaro Aguilar, 28, of Council Bluffs. Aguilar allegedly left the scene of the accident north on 240th Avenue, and was located a short time later at Casey’s General Store in Milford. Aguilar was placed under arrest for OWI by the Iowa State Patrol and was also cited by the sheriff’s office for Careless Driving and Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Property Damage Only.

There were no injuries. Damage to the Suburban was listed at $2,000 and damage to the Sonata was estimated at $1,000.

• Trailer disengages from pickup

A trailer containing racing equipment was damaged in an accident that occurred at 1:18 p.m. on May 28.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Clay Jeremy Evans, 45, of Paullina, was northbound on Redwing Avenue, pulling an enclosed trailer. Evans stated that he felt the rear of the pickup lighten up followed by the snapping of safety chains to the trailer. The trailer entered the east ditch and buckled in several places, causing damage to a go-cart, a tool box and other racing equipment inside.

Evans was not injured. Damage to the trailer was estimated at $32,000, and damage to the go-cart, tool box and a tire roller was listed as $5,550.
