The Paul Bunyan Lumber Jack Show drew good crowds to its three performances on Saturday and Sunday.

Hartley was a happening place to be last weekend.

The masses descended on the City With a Heart for Summer Celebration, which returned after a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Committee member Rachel Wilson said the event went over like gangbusters.

"Things went really good," she said. "We had a ton of people come out, and we sold the most wristbands we've ever sold in history."

The weather tried to spoil the party on Friday. Rain clouds postponed the teen volleyball tournament and horseshoe contest, but the events were able to be held the following day.

"We needed the rain," said Wilson. "It put a little damper on things, but it wasn't bad."

New this year was the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show. Three performances were held at Neebel Park Saturday and Sunday.

"We had good attendance on all the shows, and the stands were pretty full at all three," said Wilson. "I think people enjoyed a little different entertainment than what we've had in the past."

Wilson said the organizing committee was pleased with turnout and was looking forward to next year's celebration slated for Aug. 5-7, 2022.

"We'll start working on next year already," she said.
