• Seriously injured in collision at Primghar

A motorcycle rider was seriously injured during a collision at an intersection in Primghar on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 3:20 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol reported that Kevin Thomas Howes, 50, of Nora Springs, was eastbound on B40 and did not see the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 59. He drove into the path of a 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven southbound by William Earl Keller, 69, of Storm Lake. The motorcycle struck Howes’ 2008 Dodge truck on the driver’s side.

Keller, who was wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries. He was transported by the Primghar Ambulance to MercyOne Hospital and was then flown to Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D. Howes and passengers in the truck were treated for minor injuries and released. No other information was given in the report.

• Vehicle strikes field fence

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported an accident that occurred at 3395 Walnut Avenue on Oct. 31 at 10:15 p.m.

The report stated that James Samuel Gellerman, 14, of Hartley, was southbound on Walnut Avenue and lost control due to speed and inexperience. The 2005 Chevrolet Equinox entered the west ditch and impacted the side of the ditch, flipped onto the roof and struck a field fence, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Gellerman was not injured. Damage to the Equinox was listed at $4,500. Gellerman was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Violation of Instruction Permit Limitation.
