Okoboji/HMS wins 2 of 3 duals to open post-holiday action

With their opening meet of 2023 cancelled due to weather, Okoboji/HMS wrestlers had to wait until Jan. 5 to compete for the first time. The Pioneers had a successful night, winning two of three duals hosted by East Sac County at Lake View.

Okoboji/HMS posted a 63-16 win over East Sac County and topped Manson Northwest Webster by a score of 55-18.

Pocahontas Area handed the Pioneers a 42-36 loss, winning the final three matches after Okoboji/HMS had won four straight to take a 36-29 lead.

Wrestlers from H-M-S included Nathan Stofferan with three wins, including two by fall; Bryce Dodge with two wins by fall; Ethan Wiersma with two match victories; and William Barberie and James Gellerman with one win by fall.

Okoboji/HMS will wrestle in a double dual at Sheldon on Jan. 12 and will host a double dual on Jan. 19 at Milford.
