Violet A. (Krager) Ostermann, 83, Mesa, Ariz.

Violet "Vi" Ostermann, 83, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021, in Mesa. Memorial services are pending.

Violet was born March 10, 1937, in Ocheyedan, and was the daughter of Edwin and Agnes (Brandt) Krager, where she lived throughout her childhood. After high school she pursued a variety of clerical positions including working as a telephone operator, the city clerk of Everly and then as secretary/bookkeeper at Honeybee, Inc. in Everly.

On April 8, 1961, Violet married Vernon Ostermann in Jackson, Minn. They settled in Everly where they raised their family until they moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 1985, where she worked at various companies including Rural Metro Fire, the Alta Mesa Golf Pro Shop, and then retired from Pat's Color Wheel where she worked as the office manager and bookkeeper.

Violet loved to go dancing with her husband and enjoyed comradery and socializing with many friends and family. She was an avid seamstress in her earlier years and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed bowling on leagues with her husband, as well as watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! on television. Violet was loved and cherished by her family and many friends, and was a second mom to many of her daughters' friends.

Violet is survived by her four daughters: Valerie Lee, Jane Machuca and Karen (Paul) Klein, all of Mesa, Ariz.; and Laurie (Joe) Rodrigues, of Maple Valley, Wash.; one stepson, Greg Brown, of Fort Dodge; eight grandchildren: Sean and Steve Fisher, both of Rochester, N.Y.; Micaela Lee, of Gilbert, Ariz.; Gabriella Lee, of Astoria, N.Y.; Markus Fitzgerald, of Mesa, Ariz.; Amber Rittenhouse (Troy Vance) and Ashley Bell, all of Maple Valley, Wash.; Ryan Rodrigues, of Auburn, Wash.; and Priscilla (Matt) Misheski, of Gilbert, Ariz.; six great-grandchildren: Tunstin Vance (Amber); Michael and Jack Bell (Ashley); Christian Lee (Micaela); and Colton and Kylie Misheski (Priscilla); brother- and sisters-in-law; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ostermann; her parents, Edwin and Agnes Krager; several aunts, uncles, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and cousins.
