• Strikes vehicle from behind
No injuries were reported in an accident that occurred in Sutherland on June 4 at 7:55 a.m.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that three vehicles were northbound in the 4600 mile of Vine Ave./South Hiview Street. As the first slowed to turn into a parking lot on the east intersection of Fourth Street and Hiview, Kaitlyn Marie Bergsma, 19, of Alton, slowed her 2010 Honda Accura to avoid impact. The driver of the third vehicle, Madison Sue Jungers, 18, of Paullina, stated she did not see brake lights or turn signals from the first vehicle. Her 2013 Chevrolet Malibu collided with the rear of Bergsma’s vehicle. The report stated there were skid marks on the roadway from Jungers’ vehicle attempting to avoid hitting the Bergsma vehicle.
Damage estimates were $1,500 for the Bergsma vehicle and $2,500 for the Jungers vehicle. Jungers was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Reasonable and Proper Rate.
