Local COVID-19 positivity rates fall

COVID-19 positivity rates decreased in O'Brien and Clay counties over the past week.

As of Tuesday evening, O'Brien County's 14-day positivity rate was 10.9 percent, down from 12.7 percent a week ago. Clay County's was down to 11.2 percent from 12.3 percent over the same time period. The statewide positivity rate was down from 14 percent to 12 percent.

Coronavirus-related deaths were unchanged in O'Brien County at 54 and up one to 20 in Clay County. Statewide, there have been 4,332 COVID-19 deaths, up from 4,222 last week.

Confirmed infections since the pandemic began tallied 1,694 in O'Brien County, 1,678 in Clay County and 306,700 statewide. Recoveries in that same order were 1,520, 1,500 and 268,947.

As of Sunday, there were 483 coronavirus-related hospitalizations in Iowa, down from 555 the previous week. Two were from Clay County and zero were from O'Brien County.

Administered vaccine doses as of Monday totaled 767 in O'Brien County, 559 in Clay County and 142,614 statewide, 134,919 of which were Iowa residents.
