Doug Timmons, of Ames, recently donated an Allis-Chalmers Model G tractor with attachments to the Nevada High School FFA Chapter. The tractor belonged to the late Merlin Timmons, who farmed east of Sanborn.

Merlin acquired the tractor by trading for a butcher hog in exchange for the tractor. On Tuesday, Aug. 4, Nevada High School agriculture education instructor and FFA advisor Kevin Cooper traveled to Sanborn to pick up the tractor. Eric Rozenboom was at the farm to help load the tractor onto the trailer along with attachments, including a cultivator and a planter.

Timmons visited Nevada High School to see the tractor after a fresh steam cleaning and get some pictures. An authentic and original technical manual was also provided as part of the donation.

The FFA chapter's goal is to have the tractor and implements at Story County Fair and Iowa State Fair in 2021. Tyler McDonald, Nevada FFA alumnus donated the trucking of the tractor from Sanborn to Nevada High School.
