Duane Lyle Barnes, 69, of Independence, Mo., passed away at home on April 4, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Duane was born on July 28, 1950 in Fairmont, Minn., to James and Ardis (Winkelhaus) Barnes Upon the death of his father in 1960 the family moved to Grampa Winkelhaus' farm in Hartley. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1968 and then from Spencer Business College in Spencer (now called Iowa Lakes Community College).
He met Beverlee Gibler, of Independence, Mo., while both were working for HFC (Household Finance Corp.) in Kansas City. They were married on Oct. 6, 1973 and promptl...
