1949: Hartley Lutherans dedicate new church

Despite inclement weather and a threatening forecast, a large congregation of more than 1,100 people attended two dedication services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The morning dedication service began at the entrance of the new church where A.C. Hoper, chairman of the building committee, cut a white ribbon that tied the two handles of the front doors together, and unlocked the doors. The worshipers were then ushered into the new building.
