Cross country runners experience ups and downs at 2 meets

It was a week of ups and downs for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn cross country runners, as evidenced by results of meets hosted by Alta-Aurelia and South O'Brien.

H-M-S began the week on Sept. 30 at Alta, where the boys finished 10th out of 13 teams.

"I thought as a whole we were a little flat entering the race. We seemed a little mentally and physically drained, and some of our times reflected that," said Hawk coach Naet Hoaglund. "It's a good opportunity for us to find some grit and persevere through those long races when maybe we don't feel our best."
