Hawks lose twice in boys' golf dual action

Excellent scores by both opponents in War Eagle Conference boys’ golf duals resulted in losses for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn.

Playing at Marcus on May 3, the Hawks lost to MMCRU, 155-188, despite recording one of their best team totals of the season.

The top of the leader board was dominated by the Royals: Kamden Bork and Michael Schmillen (36), Kyler Bork (41) and Owen Schroeder (42).

Right behind them at No. 5 was Jack Mastbergen (43). Also competing were Aiden Bush (46), Blake Meendering (47), Kolby Douma (52), Slayton McCarter (61) and Eli Mastbergen (64).

H-M-S’s scheduled dual with Gehlen Catholic was rained out, so front 9 scores at the conference meet on April 29 were used to determine the winner and medalists.

The Jays won the dual, 152-204, and landed the Top 4 players on the leaderboard: Landon Reuter 37, Dawson Barthole and Carson Arens 38, and Dylan Lubben 39.

Scores for H-M-S were Jack Mastbergen 41, Meendering 47, Bush and Douma 58, Eli Mastbergen 59 and McCarter 64.
