Girls win back-to-back War Eagle golf duals

The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls' golf team won its first War Eagle Conference dual meet of the season on April 23, defeating George-Little Rock at Sanborn Golf and Country Club.

The Hawks finished with a team score of 235. G-LR only had three players participate in the meet and did not record a team total.

Gracie Knobloch (48) and Kinsey Schirmer (49) were top medalists for the meet. Ava Dolphin was a first-time medalist, finishing fourth with a round of 60.

Other H-M-S player scores were Kinley Sampson 78 and Kamryn Visser 88.

The Hawks followed up that success with another dual win at West Sioux on April 25. The final margin was 221-225.

Top medalists for the meet were Knobloch (46) and Schirmer (51), with Dolphin carding a round of 61 and Sampson finishing with a 63.

Madeline Klocke (53) and Autumn Beach (55) were the No. 3 and 4 medalists for the Falcons.

H-M-S (2-4) is scheduled finish the regular season at MMCRU on May 3 and at Remsen St. Mary's on May 6. Girls' regional assignments were not released as of press deadline. According to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's website, they are slated for May 10 and May 15. The Class 1A tournament will be held at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown May 23-24.
