• Drug charges filed after traffic stop

Two persons were arrested following a traffic stop in the 1000 mile of Highway 18, at 3 a.m. on March 24. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that the deputy smelled marijuana during the stop. A search resulted in the arrest of Jakari Sanders, 20, of Spencer, and Samantha Dowd, 36, of Sheldon.

Both were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana. Dowd was also charged with Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Facility after jailers found a marijuana pipe. Sara Collins, of Hartley, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with Driving Under Suspension and Failure to File S.R. Insurance.
