atrons at the Hartley Public Library can now enjoy a new Infinity Table, which was purchased by the Friends of the Library group thanks to fundraising efforts and contributions by local donors. The table features digital versions of classic board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee, chess, checkers and more. Users can also enjoy digital coloring, puzzles, card games and other activities on the table's HD touch screen.

Women & Wellness at Spencer Hospital

Spencer Hospital will host "Women & Wellness," a free women's health and wellness event on Thursday, April 14 from 5-7 p.m.

The event will take place in the lower level conference rooms of Spencer Hospital and the Women's Center.

Several booths will be staffed by health professionals offering valuable women's health information.

Hartley Community Center VIP Supper

The Hartley Community Center will hold its VIP Supper on Saturday, April 6. This year's entertainment features magical comedy with Alan Sands.

Cocktail hour and a meal also highlight the evening's schedule. See the ad on Page 3 for more details.

Trinity UCC beef supper is April 3

Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley will hold its annual beef supper on Wednesday, April 3 from 5-7 p.m. The menu features roast beef with all the trimmings.

Grief support group to start at St. Paul's Lutheran Church

A community grief support group will begin Sunday, April 7 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. The gatherings will be held each Sunday through May 19, with the exception of Mother's Day on May 12.

Seminar to focus on mental health, wellness and faith

St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley will host "Mental Health, Wellness & Christian Community" on Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. Guest Speaker Wanda Pritzel, of Lutheran Family Service, will be on hand to discuss a variety of topics.

Monday, April 1: Breakfast – Cereal, pop tart (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, apples, roll (9-12).

Tuesday, April 2: Breakfast – Egg omelet, muffin, fruit, juice; Lunch – Garlic French bread pizza, romaine salad, cherry tomatoes, mixed fruit.

Wednesday, April 3: Breakfast – Breakfast pizza, fruit, juice; Lunch – Softshell taco, lettuce/tomato, cheese, cucumbers, grapes, bread (9-12).

Thursday, April 4: Breakfast – Pancakes and sausage bites, fruit, juice; Lunch – Chicken alfredo, breadstick, cooked broccoli, celery, strawberries.

Friday, April 5: Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Barbecue pork on bun, chips, baked beans, baby carrots, pears.

Milk is served with each meal. Fruit/veggie bar offered daily.

'Last chance' for private pesticide instruction

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program is offering "Last Chance" Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Courses (CIC) for private pesticide applicators at participating county Extension offices. The course will fulfill 2023-2024 continuing instruction requirements for private pesticide applicators.

Applicators are strongly encouraged to attend the final in-person private pesticide applicator training on Thursday, April 4 at 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Northwest Iowa Community College Building A, Room 119 in Sheldon. Applicators should preregister to (712) 957-5045 or online at https://form.jotform.com/4Hregion1/obrien-private-pesticide.

If the April 4 date does not work and training is still needed, the following Extension offices are offering "last chance" showings in northwest Iowa. Note that preregistration is needed and seating is limited at each location. Walk-ins are not allowed.

• April 8, 9, 10, 11 at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m., Buena Vista County Extension Office (new location), 701 Seneca Street, Suite 1, Storm Lake; Preregister to (712) 732-5056.

• April 8, 9, 10, 11, 15 at 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m., Cherokee County Extension Office, Cherokee; Preregister to (712) 225-6196.

• April 11 at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m., Clay County Extension Office (new location), 1515 West 18th Street, Spencer; Preregister to (712) 262-2264.

The course will run for approximately 2-1/2 hours. The registration fee is $30. Questions should be directed to the appropriate county Extension office.

Upcoming blood drive at Spencer

LifeServe Blood Center is calling all community members to participate in a blood donation drive this spring. An upcoming drive will be held on Monday, April 1, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 901 11th Street SW in Spencer.

Regular hours at Royal library

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m .; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

HLC food pantry

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food.

Property tax installments due April 1

The second half installment of property taxes is due March 31. According to the Clay County Treasurer's Office, since that date falls on a weekend property owners have until Monday, April 1, to pay without penalty at the office or payment must be postmarked by April 1.

In Clay County, payments may be made Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the office located at 300 West 4th Street in Spencer. Payments may be also made by mail or dropped off in the boxes on the north and south side of the Administration Building.

Property tax information may be obtained online at http://www.iowatreasurers.org or by calling the treasurer's office at (712) 262-2179. Transaction fees apply to payments made online by E-check or with the use of debit and credit cards.

Al Anon meetings

Al Anon meetings are held at the following locations each week:

Wednesday, 8 p.m., 511 Southmoor, Spencer; Thursday, 8 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal; Sunday, 7 p.m., Sanford Medical Center, 118 N 7th Ave., Sheldon.
