• Fire destroys house
A house northeast of Sanborn was seriously damaged on Jan. 16, leaving a group of workers at Van Ess Dairy without a home.
The report stated the fire was reported at 12:25 a.m. Firemen saw flames coming from the roof as they arrived at the scene. As the roof began to cave in, firemen switched from an interior to an exterior attack, and requested assistance from Sheldon Fire Company’s aerial truck.
According to the report, the cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature. Hartley and Melvin firemen brought water to the scene.
No injuries were reported. Other living arrangements were made for occupants of the house.
