• Vehicle collides with semi

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 2019 Subaru driven by Robert Raymer, of Spencer, was southbound on M27, south of Everly, at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. The Subaru crossed the centerline and collided with a 2018 Freightliner semi-tractor/trailer driven by Dustin Vander Bush, of Spencer.

Raymer was transported by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. Vander Bush was not injured. The report stated the Subaru was a total loss and damage to the semi was limited to the trailer. The Everly and Royal fire departments assisted at the scene.

• Loses traction on bridge

Brandon Michael Mazur, 17, of Paullina, was driving south on Redwing Avenue at 12:34 p.m. on Dec. 26. According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, he swerved as his 1991 Jeep Wrangler lost traction while crossing a bridge over Mill Creek. The vehicle entered the west ditch, rolled and came to rest on its side.

Mazur and a passenger were not injured. Damage to the Wrangler was estimated at $2,000.

• Collides with rear of vehicle

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 18, at 5:35 p.m. on Jan. 7.

The report stated that Andrew Robert Sterk, 29, of Sheldon, was eastbound on Highway 18 when he slowed to make a right turn into a driveway. Allyson Lynn Moser, 30, of Sanborn, was also eastbound on Highway 18. She was reading a text message on her phone and did not realize that Sterk was slowing to make a turn. The 2008 Taurus driven by Moser rear-ended Sterk’s 2024 Chevrolet Trax.

Moser complained of pain/injury and was transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. Sterk was not injured. Damage estimates were $10,000 for the Trax and $3,000 for the Taurus. Moser was cited for Use of Electronic Communication Device.
