Coming off a successful road swing, the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls' basketball team didn't find playing at home to be an advantage. In their final game before the holiday break, the Hawks were defeated by George-Little Rock, 58-26, on Dec. 19.
H-M-S trailed from the start but stayed close through the first five minutes. The Mustangs closed out the opening quarter with a 12-3 run that increased their lead to 18-8, and continued to extend the advantage to 30-13 at halftime.
The Hawks' offensive struggles continued in the second half, as they were held to single-digit scoring in both quarter...
