The margins of victory were dissimilar but the end results were what counted most for the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls' basketball team last week.

Hosting Woodbury Central on Nov. 30, the Hawks took control in the second half and rolled to a 75-50 win. The 75 points is the most scored by the H-M-S girls since the 2016-17 season.

Abby Douma and Kylee Schiphoff led H-M-S with 21 and 20 points, Moriah Otto scored 13 points, Frankie Mohni scored nine and Gracie Knobloch scored six. The Hawks made 42.6 percent of their shots from the floor, but only made 8-of-22 foul shots.

H-M-S led 14-9 after one quarter but Woodbury Central managed to narrow the margin to 27-23 at halftime. The third quarter belonged to the Hawks who outscored the Wildcats by a 31-11 margin to build a 58-34 lead.

The Hawks grabbed 46 rebounds, including 21 on the offensive end. They were led by Douma with 10, Knobloch and Otto with nine, Schiphoff with five, and Mohni, Addy Sheeler and Hannah Tessum with four each.

Douma also had four blocks, Schiphoff had three steals, and Knobloch and Lindsey Van Es each had two assists.

Woodbury Central was led by Kendra Mitchell with 23 points.
