• Loses control on snow-covered road

Agdiel La Cruz Priego, 21, of Hartley, was driving south on Nettle Avenue at 5:45 a.m. on Nov. 25 when he apparently lost control of his 2003 Ford F150 on the snow-covered road. The pickup entered the west ditch, rolled at least once and came to rest on its wheels.

The report stated the driver contacted the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office to report the accident but did not stay at the scene to talk with law enforcement.

La Cruz Priego complained of pain/injury but was not transported. Damage to the F150 was estimated at $6,000. He was cited for No Valid Driver’s License and Failure to Maintain Control.

• Vision obstructed by glare of sun

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that John Ray Krantz, 74, of Granville, was northbound on Nettle Avenue at 4:26 p.m. on Nov. 21 when he attempted to turn left onto 440th Street. His vision was obstructed due to the glare of the sun and failed to yield to a southbound vehicle driven by Byron Jeffery Groen, 63, of Marcus.

Neither driver was injured. Damage estimates were $7,000 for the 2007 GMC Envoy driven by Krantz and $1,500 for the 1993 Honda Accord driven by Groen. Krantz was cited for Failure to Yield Upon Left Turn.

• Accident attributed to unidentified vehicle

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that Emma Jean Young, 58, of Hayward, Wis., was driving north on Nest Avenue at 9:48 p.m. on Nov. 21. An unidentified vehicle was eastbound on the Highway 60 northbound exit ramp and allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign.

After avoiding a collision with the vehicle described as a dark-colored pickup, Young’s 2018 Jeep Compass went into the ditch, struck a rock-covered waterway and collided with a chain link fence. She was not injured.

Damage to the Compass was estimated at $20,000. The fence owned by the State of Iowa sustained $500 in damage.

• Vehicle rolls on its side

Chester Campos, 24, of Primghar, was driving north on Redwing Avenue at 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 when his 2001 Dodge Durango lost traction on the slick road surface. It entered the east ditch and rolled onto its side.

Campos was not injured. Damage to Durango was listed as $4,000. He was cited by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office for No Valid Driver’s License.
