Signs with cheer program at NWC Emma Vollink signed her letter of intent to join the cheer program at Northwestern College in Orange City. The senior has been a member of the football and basketball cheer squads throughout her four years at H-M-S. She is pictured at the signing on Nov. 7, joined by Northwestern cheer coach Taylor Decker; her parents, Becky and Scott Vollink; and siblings, Trenton, Audra and Malia.

Winter sports seasons get started

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's winter sports seasons got underway Nov. 21 when the girls' basketball team played at Sioux Central. Results will be reported in next week's issue.

The first girl/boy basketball doubleheader of the season is scheduled for Nov. 28 when the Hawks play at George-Little Rock.

H-M-S bowlers' first competition is also scheduled for Nov. 28 when they host MMCRU at Locomotion Lanes in Sanborn.

The Okoboji/HMS boys' wrestlers hit the mats for the first time during a JV/V triangular on Nov. 30 at Milford.
