The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn volleyball team's 2023 record of 7-18 might suggest that little progress was made to improve on the previous year's mark of 8-17. But Hawk coach Cheryl Kroese feels the positives outweigh the negatives.

"Our win-loss record definitely didn't show what this team was capable of. We have battled since mid-September with injuries so unfortunately that was something we were constantly working through," she said. "In spite of that, I do feel like we showed growth throughout the season. I'm excited to have a solid core of girls back next year and build on what we accomplished this season."

H-M-S will miss the contributions of seniors Kya Christopherson, Heather Elgersma, Cheyanne Kruger, Abigail Otto and Kinsey Schirmer.

"It's always hard at the end of a season and knowing your seniors won't be back next year. We graduate a group of five young ladies who are just terrific kids on and off the court," Kroese noted. "I'm so blessed to be able to be a small part of their very busy lives and wish them the best in the remainder of their senior year and beyond."
