Charlotte Jean Pearson was born to Leslie and Helen Johnson on Sept. 18, 1923 in Spencer, where she and her 13 brothers and sisters grew up.

Shy was united in marriage to Curtis Pearson on Nov. 8, 1942. In this union of marriage they had three children: Deanna, Susanne and Carvell. Curt and Shy lived in Hartley their entire married life.

Shy passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, at the age of 99. Shy loved to dance, play golf, play cards, do ceramics, garden, tend to her flowers, and was a wonderful cook and baker. Shy especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Deanna (Bryan) Glossop and Sue Hansen; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Helen Nuovo and Marilyn Zellaha, and one brother, Robert "R.J." Johnson; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; her son, Carvell; her parents and 10 siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hartley Community Center on Sunday, Aug. 6, from 1:30-4 p.m.
