Electricity to be shut off again in Hartley

Hartley Municipal Utilities will have a planned power outage on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 11 p.m. The outage will end on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 4 a.m.

HHS alumni to gather

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will be serving coffee and bars to Hartley (60 and over) graduates, on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 8:30-10 a.m.

Members of the Class of 1958 will also be celebrating their 65th class reunion.

Everly Community Days on the horizon

Everly Community Days will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13. A variety of events are planned for the whole family to enjoy.

Rainbow Cutlery in downtown Hartley will be holding a sale during Summer Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 5, featuring a variety of items.

Scenic trail race is Aug. 5 at PHC

A scenic trail walk/run/race, sponsored by the Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association and O’Brien County Conservation Board, will be held at the Prairie Heritage Center on Saturday, Aug. 5. Participants may choose 1.5 or 3.1 mile routes.

Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. with the event starting at 7:30 a.m. There is no race fee or preregistration, but donations are welcome.

The Prairie Heritage Center is located at 4931 Yellow Ave., northwest of Peterson. All ages are welcome to attend this free event.

Veterans invited to participate in parade

Area veterans are invited to either walk with the Legion Color Guard or ride the trailer that is provided during the Hartley Summer Celebration parade on Saturday, Aug. 5. Those interested should be at the Legion Building (back room) at 10 a.m.

Music program at Pleasant View chapel

It has been almost four years since any music has been played or sung in the chapel at Pleasant View Cemetery. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, Bonnie Corron will be back to entertain the community with her talents on the pump organ and her voice singing favorite hymns and melodies.

A varied selection of songs will be performed. The chapel will be open at 1 p.m. on Aug. 5.

Picnic, lawn concert Aug. 15 at PHC

Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association and the O’Brien County Conservation Board invite the public to the Prairie Heritage Center on Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 5-7:30 p.m., for a picnic and lawn concert.

Enjoy bison burgers and the musical talent of Larry Heschke. O’Brien County Naturalist Lindsey Kleinhesselink will offer prairie flower hikes and kids’ games. The center will be open for visitors. Bring a lawn chair.

Prairie Heritage Center is located at 4931 Yellow Avenue, northwest of Peterson. All ages are welcome to attend this free event.

Upcoming blood drive at Spencer

LifeServe Blood Center needs both new and regular blood donors to roll up their sleeves this summer. A drive is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Southpark Mall, 901 11th Street SW in Spencer.

HLC food pantry

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.

Al Anon meetings

Al Anon meetings are held at the following locations each week:

Wednesday, 8 p.m., 511 Southmoor, Spencer; Thursday, 8 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal; Sunday, 7 p.m., Sanford Medical Center, 118 N 7th Ave., Sheldon.
