• OWI arrests

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported separate incidents where vehicles were stopped by a deputy, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanated from each vehicle. Each driver admitted to consuming alcohol and was run through a series of field sobriety tests. They were arrested and held in jail to appear before a magistrate.

Peter Wiebe, 35, of Newell, was stopped on July 15 in the 5000 mile of Highway 71. He was charged with OWI-2nd Offense and two counts of Child Endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors.

Billie Jo Petersen, 49, of Estherville, was stopped on July 15 in the 4600 mile of Highway 71, and charged with OWI-1st offense, a serious misdemeanor, and Speeding, a simple misdemeanor. A male passenger, Jose Uribe-Garcia, was cited for Open Container and released.

Derek Larson, 45, of Milford, was stopped on July 16 in the 3200 mile of 130th Avenue. He was charged with OWI-2nd offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and Speeding and Failure to Display Registration Plates, simple misdemeanors.

• Driving under suspension

A vehicle driven by Wendy Brockman, 52, of Spencer, was stopped by a Clay County deputy in the 2400 mile of Highway 18 on July 17. It was determined that she had a suspended driver’s license.

Brockman was charged with Driving Under Suspension, a simple misdemeanor. She was held in jail to appear before a magistrate.
