Community remembers service and sacrifice of fallen servicemen and women

Royal City Park was decked out in style to commemorate Memorial Day.
American Legion members and Royal residents remembered the fallen on Monday during a community ceremony at City Park.
This year's program was a large undertaking – the entire memorial service was moved to the old football field for the first time. City volunteers, community members, the fire department, American Legion and Lions Club members came together to make it happen. What they thought would take a couple days took just one due to all of the support that came to help.
Monday's service was held at the City Park shelter. Featured speaker was U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Brent Cuttell, with musical selections performed by Sue Brugman and Lara Hanna.
