Several schools, including Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, took advantage of some last-minute regular season competition at the Sioux Central coed track and field meet on May 8.

Like the Wolverine Relays a few days earlier, weather interfered and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays were not run. In addition, results of the boys’ 1600-meter run were not counted because of interference by non-runners.

Results that did count for the Hawk boys included a first-place finish by George Vargas in the 3200-meter run (11:42.51), and runner-up finishes by Ethan Diehm in the long jump (20’5-3/4”), Adam Schierholz...
