Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Elementary fourth grade students participated in the annual poppy poster contest sponsored by Hartley American Legion Auxiliary Unit #288.

First and second place winners pictured are front, from left to right: Eryn Schierholz and Asher Moore; second row: Teegan Rose and Lincoln Giese. Third-place winners not pictured are Ellie Vogt and Karlie Voss. The winners receive a monetary prize and all participants receive one dollar.

The top winning posters are displayed at Burley's Appliance and the other entries are displayed at Fiesta Foods, both in Hartley.

The Hartley American Legion Auxiliary will have cans around town up to Memorial Day weekend to accept donations for poppies. Proceeds will benefit veterans and the military.
