Easter egg hunts planned in area

Hartley: Community Memorial Health Center and the I.E.F. Club will host their annual egg hunt at CMHC on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. Ages 0-10 are welcome, and all participants will receive a prize.

Children will be split into three different age groups. Please park in the Grace Fellowship parking lot.

Everly: The Clay County Countrymen 4-H Club and Everly Lions Club will host an Easter egg hunt at Everly Community Park on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. Children ages 0-10 are welcome to participate.

Red’s Catering menu

Red’s Catering in downtown Hartley will be serving two carryout specials on Wednesday, April 12 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m..

ESL classes offered at St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hartley will be offering free ESL classes to the community April 11-May 18. The classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Spring clean-up day in Hartley

Hartley will hold its spring clean-up on Monday, April 24. Once trucks pick up refuse on your block, they will not return to pick up more.

Melvin Legion brunch is April 16

Melvin American Legion Post #470 will host its annual brunch on Sunday, April 16 at the Legion building.

Guests may dine in or call their orders ahead for carryout. See the ad on Page 3 for more details.

Deadline to apply for OBCCF grants is April 15

The deadline for submitting an application for this year’s grant cycle for the O’Brien County Community Foundation (OBCCF) is Saturday, April 15. Applications are available online at http://www.siouxlandcommunityfoundation.org under the affiliates tab.

Those eligible to apply include nonprofit organizations and units of local government that serve O’Brien County and are tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Non 501(c)(3) groups such as service clubs and organizations may apply as long as the group has partnered with an eligible 501(c)(3) organization that has agreed to serve as a fiscal sponsor to receive the grant if awarded.

Monday, April 10: Breakfast – Cereal, pop tart (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Pizza, romaine salad (5-12), broccoli/cauliflower (K-4), cherry tomatoes, oranges.

Tuesday, April 11: Breakfast – Cinnamon roll, fruit, juice; Lunch – Chicken patty on bun, chips, baby carrots, cucumbers, peaches.

Wednesday, April 12: Breakfast – Breakfast pizza, fruit, juice; Lunch – Hard shell taco, lettuce/cheese, tomatoes, red peppers, refried beans, bread (9-12), grapes.

Thursday, April 13: Breakfast – Waffles, sausage (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Pork chop patty, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, applesauce, roll (9-12).

Friday, April 14: Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Hamburger on bun, smiley fries, baked beans, mixed fruit.

Milk is served with each meal. Fruit/veggie bar offered daily.

Regular hours at Royal library

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m .; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Al Anon meetings scheduled at 3 area locations

Al Anon meetings are held at the following locations each week:

Wednesday, 8 p.m., 511 Southmoor, Spencer; Thursday, 8 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal; Sunday, 7 p.m., Sanford Medical Center, 118 N 7th Ave., Sheldon.
