• Charged with OWI

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 2500 mile of 340th Street at 2:16 a.m. on Feb. 26, in reference to a vehicle in the ditch. The report stated the driver, William Turner, 47, of Royal, had been allegedly consuming alcoholic beverages. He was transported to the county jail to perform field sobriety tests. He was then placed under arrest and charged with OWI-1st offense, a serious misdemeanor.

Turner was held in jail to appear before the magistrate.

• Collides with deer

Benjamin Reed Magee, 34, of Sutherland, was driving eastbound on Highway 10, at 6:32 p.m. on March 5, when a deer entered the roadway. According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the 2009 Ford Expedition struck the deer, causing heavy frontend damage and the airbags to deploy.

Magee was not injured. Damage to the Expedition estimated at $10,000.
