Hawk boys have streaky season in 2022-23
9 seniors lead H-M-S to second winning season in 3 years

The 2022-23 season was one of ups and downs for a senior-dominated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys’ basketball team.
The Hawks put together a five-game winning streak that included their first-ever victory over Unity Christian. But they also endured a 1-5 stretch in January before winning three of the final four regular season games.
After dominating Alta-Aurelia in the district opener, H-M-S lost to Remsen St. Mary’s to end the season with a record of 12-10. The Hawks finished seventh in the War Eagle Conference standings at 4-6.
Nine seniors conclude their high school careers and Hawk coach Naet Hoaglund appreciated the chance to work with them during his two seasons as head coach.
“I’m thankful for our nine seniors and their leadership. I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve grown with them and for the opportunity to coach them,” he said. “I’m proud of their accomplishments on and off the basketball court and so appreciative for who they are as people. We are blessed to have had their leadership and we are proud of how they have represented our school and communities.”
