Still in the hunt

Okoboji/HMS remains unbeaten in Siouxland dual action

This winter's weather has impacted the Siouxland Conference dual wrestling schedule, but so far Okoboji/HMS has taken advantage of every opportunity to compete.

The Pioneers improved their conference dual record to 4-0 with a double dual sweep of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock and West Lyon, on Jan. 24 at Inwood. They edged CL/GLR, 39-33, and won convincingly against the Wildcats, 45-27.

One of James Gellerman's wins was a pin of Ethan Pedersen of CL/GLR, and Bryce Dodge added a pin on James Bullerman of West Lyon.

The following are results of the duals with CL/G-LR and West Lyon.

106: Forfeit; forfeit.

113: Mike Gonnerman won by fall, 3:06; lost by fall, 2:31.

120: Dylan Jones lost decision, 7-5; won by fall, 1:17.

126: Tyce Hanson won decision, 8-2; won by forfeit.

132: Dillion Wittrock lost by fall, 4:59; lost by fall, 0:32.

138: Brennan Baschke lost decision, 11-4; lost decision, 12-8.

145: Ryan Pyle won by fall, 2:41; lost by fall, 0:47.

152: Tristen Strantz won by fall, 1:13; Bryce Dodge won by fall, 2:51.

160: Noah Strantz won by fall, 2:00; won by fall, 1:49.

170: Nathaniel Franklin won by fall, 4:36; won by forfeit.

182: James Gellerman won by fall, 2:56; won by forfeit.

195: Forfeit; open.

220: Sam Pas lost by tie breaker 1, 7-6; won decision, 7-3.

285: Keyshawn Smith lost by fall, 1:11; won by fall, 2:45.

Extra: William Barberie lost decision, 12-6.

Okoboji/HMS (8-4 overall) is scheduled to compete in a quadrangular at Sioux Center on Feb. 2. The Siouxland Conference wrestling tournament, originally scheduled for Jan. 28, will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, also at Sioux Center, starting at 10 a.m.
