Not quite enough pins

H-M-S bowlers finish second at home triangular

Emmetsburg's boys edged Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn to place first as a team during a bowling triangular Jan. 17 at Locomotion Lanes in Sanborn.

The E-Hawks finished with a team total of 2,741. That was 13 pins better than H-M-S's total of 2,728. West Sioux finished with a final score of 2,325.

Dawson Niichel rolled the high boys' individual game (236). He also rolled a 187 to finish with a team-best total of 423. Other scores for the Hawks were Jack Mastbergen 171-234, 405; Marcus Aaron 199-156, 355; Riley Russell 179-169, 348; Caleb Aaron 154-137, 291; and Drew Prins 160-129, 289.

Emmetsburg's total of 990 for the Baker games topped H-M-S (906) and West Sioux (734). H-M-S's scores were 180, 152, 148, 225 and 201.

West Sioux and H-M-S were the only schools to have complete girls' teams. The Falcons' pin total was 1,712 compared to H-M-S's 1,662.

Individual scores for the Hawks were Jordan Lux 139-121, 260; Destiny Olvera 138-111, 249; Meghan Larson 105-116, 221; Annika Overmire 103-110, 213; Lexi Croatt 127-80, 207; and Keyanna Brower 105-85, 190.


West Sioux also finished with the high total (551) for the Baker games. The Hawks' scores of 91, 96, 138, 71 and 115 added up to 512.

H-M-S bowlers will compete against Sioux Central on Jan. 27 at Sioux Rapids.
