Clay Central/Everly Elementary staff members teachers dressed up for the special "Leader In Me" jobs assembly last week.

Class may have started late last Friday at Clay Central/Everly Elementary due to winter weather, but conditions were just right for an all-school assembly at the end of the day with some excitement.

Students and staff were rounded up for "Price is Right" style assembly to introduce 12 new "Leader In Me Jobs," which are now open for application.

The school's Leader In Me curriculum focuses on social emotional learning through setting and achieving positive goals, all while establishing positive relationships along the way. Students are learning with hands-on responsibilities in the form of "job positions" open to everyone.

Positions currently offered include: hallway monitors, cafeteria stewards, lunch/attendance count helpers, Pledge leaders and flag raisers, newsletter liaisons, botanists, photographers, childcare aide, and more.

The assembly had a "Price Is Right" vibe, with teachers dressed up as each available job appearing through the stage curtain while Mrs. Huntress introduced them one at a time to "come on down." CC/E's student council members informed the student body what the positions entailed and each job's deadline for application.

Students laughed while teachers made the assembly a fun and engaging one. It appears to have worked, too, as Mavericks have been readily picking up application forms and deciphering which job suits them best.
