Opponents extend girls' losing streak

H-M-S comes up short in 3 road losses

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was on the road last week for three girls' basketball games and came up short in all of them.

The Hawks ended the week with a 55-45 loss to MMCRU in War Eagle Conference play on Jan. 13 at Marcus.

A slow start to both halves proved to be H-M-S's downfall. The deficit was 17-11 after the first quarter but the Hawks were able to reduce it to 26-23 at half time. MMCRU took control of the contest in the third quarter, outscoring H-M-S by nine to build a 39-27 lead. The Hawks' 18 points in the final period could only cut the deficit to 10.
