1973: Groups unite to ‘Save the Stop Light’

L.W. Anderson, Mike Colling, Carl Rahn and Harry Ketelsen were elected to terms of two years on the Hartley Chamber of Commerce board. A committee was appointed to get action started on a skating rink. Chamber members were less enthusiastic about a spring merchandise fair, so the matter was dropped.

A connecting rod gave out in the largest engine at the municipal light plant. The two smaller engines were used to supply electricity on a rotating basis until the load was sufficiently reduced. Damage to the big engine was repaired before the load became sufficient to demand i...
