• Arrested for driving while barred

A Clay County deputy initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Emily Scott, 27, of Everly, at 7:10 a.m. on Jan. 4. The stop was made in the 3400 mile of M27.

The report stated that Scott did not have a valid driver’s license and was placed under arrest. She was charged with Driving While Barred, an aggravated misdemeanor; and Driving While Revoked, Driving Under Suspension and No Driver’s License, all simple misdemeanors.

Scott was held in the county jail to appear before the magistrate.

• Pair of accidents in Clay County

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 2020 International tractor pulling a 2018 APCR tanker was traveling north in the 3900 mile of 130th Avenue/M27, at 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 4. The driver, Randolph Huffman, 59, of Rockport, Texas, lost control of the semi, which entered the east ditch and rolled over onto its passenger side.

No injuries were reported. The tractor and tanker, owned by Matheson Tri Gas Inc., sustained $5,000 in damage. Huffman was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

The sheriff’s office also responded to an accident which occurred at 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 6. Inga Hoffman, 57, of Milford, was driving south in the 3300 mile of 340th Avenue when her 2021 Toyota Venza lost traction in the snow/slush mix while traversing a curve, left the roadway and entered the yard at 3305 340th Ave.

Hoffman was not injured. A female passenger in the vehicle sustained a suspected back injury and was transported to Spencer Hospital by Palo Alto County Ambulance Services. Damage to the Venza owned by Paula Gustin is estimated at $15,000.
