Faster times lead to improved scores

Runners exceed expectations at state qualifying meet

Year-to-year comparisons of athletic performance are not always a true measure of progress, but scoring for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's cross country teams at the state qualifying meet on Oct. 20 suggests things are trending in the right direction.

That is especially true of the H-M-S boys, who lowered their overall score from 434 in 2020 to 294 in 2021, and now to 228. The Hawk girls also put up some fast times.
