Firefighters’ pancake feed is Nov. 6

The Hartley Firefighters Association will host its annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 7 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Hartley Community Center.

Everly firefighters hosting breakfast this Sunday

The Everly Firefighter’s Association will hold its fall breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Everly Fire Station.

Gem & Junque Sale is Nov. 5

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hartley will once again hold its annual Gem & Junque sale on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Camp Okoboji.

A meal will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. See the ad on Page 5 for more details.

St. Joe’s hosting Election Day soup & pie supper

Don’t worry about cooking on Tuesday, Nov. 8 – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hartley has you covered.

The church will once again hold its Election Day soup and pie supper from 4-7 p.m. See the ad on Page 5 for more details.

Country Crafters event is Nov. 5

The Hartley Country Crafters will host their annual craft show on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Hartley Community Center.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided by IEF Club. See the ad on Page 10 for more details.

Films to be shown at Hartley library

Hartley Public Library will be hosting a screening of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 9:30 a.m., with a coloring time to follow. Snacks will be provided. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult or a child over 12. While at the library, check out the large selection of Halloween books.

The library will also be hosting a classic movie matinee at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Everyone is invited to watch “The Sons of Katie Elder.” Snacks will be provided.

Thursday, Oct. 27: Breakfast – Waffles, sausage (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Chili, cinnamon roll, celery, carrots and bread (9-12), peaches.

Friday, Oct. 28: Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Hot ham/cheese, chips (9-12), green beans, baby carrots, applesauce.

Monday, Oct. 31: Breakfast – Cereal, pop tart (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Pizza, romaine salad, baby carrots, apples.

Milk is served with each meal. Fruit/veggie bar offered daily.

Fifth Sunday movie night at Melvin FRC

The next movie night at the First Reformed Church in Melvin will be Sunday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. At that time the movie “God’s Not Dead: We the People” will be shown.

The movie is about a pastor who is called to defend a group of Christian homeschooling families. He finds himself faced with the interference of the government, yet believing their right to educate their children is a freedom worth fighting for. The pastor, along with a number of families, are called to Washington, D.C. to testify in a landmark congressional hearing that will determine the future of religious freedom in our country for the years to come.

Refreshments will be served during a brief intermission.

Poets’ group to meet Oct. 27

The Hartley Poets Group will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Hartley Public Library. All poets are welcome.

NHS induction ceremony Nov. 1 at H-M-S

The induction ceremony for the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn National Honor Society will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the lobby of the H-M-S Events Center.
