Hawks drop final 2 War Eagle matches

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn missed an opportunity to earn its fourth War Eagle Conference win of the season at MMCRU on Oct. 11. The Hawks dropped the five-set match by scores of 25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 23-25 and 9-15.

H-M-S had the early momentum in the first set but MMCRU broke open a tight score in the next one to tie the match. The Hawks won the third set after rallying from a five-point deficit, but could not repeat that scenario in the fourth. The Royals jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the tie-breaker. H-M-S rallied to within two but MMCRU used a strong finish to claim the set and the match.
