Letters: Disputes quote

October 6, 2022

To the editor:

I would like to clarify the “quote” that I did NOT speak regarding the article “Scoreboard replacement offers other benefits” in last week’s newspaper.

I was “quoted” as saying, “I think it is still common in our area for Wednesday night to be church night. It is not popular, but it is the feedback I’m getting.” What I did say is that I have received patron comments regarding so many activities on Sunday afternoons and evenings. And that while my personal opinion may not be popular to some in the public, I would like to see those activities slow down to give our students and staff more time with their families.

I want it to be known that I support all church activities for our youth and staff members. I would never comment on its popularity. I have spoken to the author of this article and expressed my concern. I was assured the quoting process would be more accurate in the future. I hope this letter clarifies the reality of what was actually stated and where I stand on the topic.
