A funeral service for Joan M. Phelps was held Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Father William Schreiber officiated. Interment was in North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Spencer. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Joan Marie Phelps, the daughter of Harold and Eleanor Huss Phelps, was born Aug. 25, 1958 in Spencer. She received her early education and graduated from Clay Central High School in Royal in 1976. Joan continued her education at Spencer School of Business and Iowa Lakes Community College.

Following her schooling, Joan worked at K-Mart in Spencer for 25 years and then at Buy Rite Foods in Milford for 12 years. Joan lived in Royal where she was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society. In her spare time Joan enjoyed reading, fishing and doing crafts.

Joan passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold “Blackie” and Eleanor Phelps; and one infant brother, Larry.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Phelps, of Newton; her niece, Jennifer Phelps, of Boone; other relatives and friends.
