Middle school principal focused on building culture

Matt Van Voorst getting acquainted at H-M-S 5-8 grade building

New H-M-S Middle School Principal Matt Van Voorst previously served as West Sioux's 6-12 grade dean of students.

The new school year ushered in a new era of leadership last week at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Middle School.

Principal Matt Van Voorst began his tenure at the helm of the 5-8 grade building. He most recently served as West Sioux's dean of students for grades 6-12, and has liked what he's seen so far at H-M-S.

"There is a lot of pride in the H-M-S school district," he said. "The district cares. Every person I have met has been excited about what is happening to help all students succeed."
